Chesapeake Country is about the songs, poems and stories of our Chesapeake region. It is focused on our relations: all of our relations! It is about the stories of our strengths and vulnerabilities in relating to our own selves, to one another in family and community, to the greater community of all living things and out beyond to our place in the Universe. Not all relations in any one of us are fulfilled. People who are most aware of their relationship with the natural world will figure largest in these stories. Not all of their stories will be specifically about nature, but all will throw some light on the subtleties in maintaining a sustaining relation with the natural world. The stories and their tellers will be selected for the artistry reflected through their sense of humor, their integrity in presenting real persons in real situations, their sense of a unique and spirited connection to place, and their regional style in the telling. Hopefully all of our stories, poems and songs will help us to grow the quality of our relationship to one another, the native wildlife and the great ongoing story of the Universe.
