SACReD INFO  

WRYR-LP was developed as a project of the South Arundel Citizens for Responsible Development (SACReD) and was one of the first Low Power FM radio stations granted a license in the nation.

In January 2000, the FCC adopted rules creating a new LPFM service, allowing small community groups to reach out via ordinary radio signals.  SACReD was granted a license for a 100-watt LPFM station in 2002.  Ownership of WRYR-LP was transferred to WRYR Community Radio, Inc. in July 2007.

SACReD is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) volunteer citizens organization whose mission is to work toward sustainable and environmentally responsible Chesapeake Bay communities through education, research and action.  All donations to the SACReD and the radio station are fully tax deductible.

SACReD's goals include:

• Protection of the Chesapeake Bay’s water quality, beauty and wildlife habitats
• Wetlands preservation and restoration
• Community empowerment for environmental, resource, and facility planning and
  decision-making
• Creation of educational and recreational opportunities for Southern Anne Arundel
  County youth that increase environmental awareness and nurture commitment to
  ecological protection
